| Balmaceda
and Serrano Glacier Navigation |
Breakfast
and transfer to the Pier to get on board at approximately 8 am everyday
during summer season. After sailing for about 15 minutes we will
arrive at Bories Port, and industrial place. One hour later, we
will navigate Señoret Channel, Eberhard Fiord and Ultima
Esperanza.
After two hours navigation from Natales Port, under normal conditions,
we will reach “Cormoranes” Colony, having hundreds of
these birds, resembling penguins. As we get nearer the Fiord, the
landscape becomes wilder and more attractive, for its vigorous mountains.
Now we have majestic Balmaceda Mount before us, as well as the glacier
bearing the same name, being detached from the eastern side. This
mount is 2035 m high and there are very few antecedents of its having
been climbed up to its main peak. The above mentioned glacier is
in recession as nearly all glaciers in the planet.
After sailing for 4 hours, we will come alongside Puerto Toro pier;
walking about 1000 m. you can get to the glacier on foot. Balmaceda
and Serrano glaciers belong to Balmaceda Mount National Park.
You can see the mountains of Paine from the ship. Return to Puerto
Natales and end of navigation. Transfer to hotel.
