Salta province is located at north-west of
Argentina. It limits with three countries: Bolivia, Chile and Paraguay.
Salta is characterized by its geographic diversity and climate,
as it ranges from the desert cold of the Andes and the Puna to the
subtropical heat of the forest. At the centre of the province, fertile
valleys, mountains and rivers spread with nice temperatures and
sun through the year. From the historical and cultural point of
view, Salta is amazingly beautiful.
It also holds exceptional places and unique services as Quebrada
de Cafayate, the natural amphitheatre, or Train to the Clouds, which
departs from 1200 above sea level in Salta and arrives at Viaducto
la Polyorilla, at 4200 m above the sea level (a few km from San
Antonio de Los Pobres,) as well as alternative tourism, 4 x 4 truck
drives, rafting and fishing among others.
Salta is commonly used by tourists as a location to stay overnight,
making excursions from there to boundary provinces such us Jujuy
and / or Tucumán or combining nights to perform the well
known “Vuelta la Norte”.
