Located in the north-west region of Argentinian Patagonia,
1627 km from Buenos Aires City, at 764 m above sea level and along
the southern coast of the majestic Nahuel Huapi Lake, Bariloche
rises as the main tourist pole of Rio Negro Province, and as one
of the most important in Argentina. Created on October 9th , 1934,
Nahuel Huapi National Park (in Araucanian language, tiger island)
is under a special conservation and protection regimen. The extraordinary
beauty of its landscape overwhelmed the first expeditions and inhabitants.
Some years later, European immigrants found notorious similitude
with their places of birth, choosing this area as their permanent
residence. Its geographic situation, in the south-west of Neuquén
and north-west of Rio Negro Provinces, covers about 750,000 has,
330,000 of which belong to the Bariloche National Reserve, where
it is possible to enjoy music with choir concerts and high-level
musicals and the Camerata Bariloche performances.
Its traditional National Snow Festival, Torch Lowering from Cathedral
Hill, Choral Christmas, Festival of European-Argentinian and Latin-American
communities, are other tourist attractions of Bariloche, added to
the already known natural beauties of its environment.
